For some reason I started to become obsessed with this craze. along with seeing my collar bones and being able to fit size 10 jeans haha. But now, I look on tumblr for my normal "Thinspo" crap, and i keep coming across this but instead of setting that as a goal for my self, I am actually repulsed - only by the gaps that are so huge you can see the girls thigh bone! . THIGHS ARE MEANT TO TOUCH (in my case anyways :P). There are photos every where of these girls who can fit both hands around their thighs, like it was their wrist. This is not an ambition for my self and I am horrified that girls today want this.
But also, this can be due to body types and what ever, so those sort of people who have a sort of pelvis that allows this is FINE, and natural. But my problem is with the girls who DONT have these body types. Who force them selves into starvation mode to achieve this look. Media today needs to take into account shapes and bone structure of ALL woman. SO woman who don't have this bone structure know that they should not try to achieve this look
Its actually really unhealthy for the woman who dont have the right body shape for the thigh gap, some of the fittest women in the world have their thighs touching. Why cant us as woman look to them for inspiration? the people who work for their bodies. Not to the current Monthly cover of cosmo, who as we all know is Photoshoped to high heaven. We know this but yet still want these false images of woman for OUR bodies? If we were to look at athletes per say, and their bodies. These woman TRAIN and work hard and come out a bit muscly - but we dont have to go that far haha. But these bodies are normal. I think of the celebrity bodies, sure some of them work out and what not. but they also have access to liposuction any day of the week.
Sorry i know this is all disjointed. but it actually has just made me mad, that just photos can create a giant illusion in a girl mind. I generally belived this is what society wanted from me. Now i know better HEALTHY! society wants HEALTHY! I want to change this perception for my self but also my future daughter. If i have this idea of beauty, wont she have it too?
Much Love
MrsNadiaMitchell xx
